Torrance, CA (October 14, 2020) – Authorities have identified the motorcycle rider who died in Torrance during a collision with an SUV on Monday, October 12th.

According to officers from the Torrance Police Department, 44-year-old Arthur Maloles, a resident of Winnetka was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office at about 3:20 p.m. at the intersection of Lomita Boulevard and Hawthorne Boulevard. 

Reports indicate that Maloles was traveling northbound along Hawthorne Boulevard, near Lomita Boulevard, when the driver of a Ford Escape traveling in the opposite direction disregarded the biker’s right-of-way and attempted to make a lefthand turn, causing the biker to collide with the vehicle.

The driver of the Ford Escape, a 56-year-old female whose identity has not yet been released, was unharmed during the incident.

Police have no reason to believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in this accident. 

This crash is still under investigation by local law enforcement.
