Westmont, CA (July 12, 2020) – A 45-year-old man identified as Charlton Caldwell, of Compton, was killed in a crash involving three vehicles on Saturday night, July 11th, in the Westmont neighborhood of Los Angeles. The fatal accident happened at the intersection of 106th Street and Vermont Avenue around 9:35 p.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol, two white 2007 BMWs collided at the intersection after one of them went through a stop sign. Caldwell, who was operating a 2007 black Saab 20T, was unable to avoid the crash and ultimately struck a concrete median and a tree.
Emergency medical responders were dispatched to the scene where Caldwell was pronounced deceased. One other person involved, identified only as a 39-year-old man from Los Angeles, was transported to Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood with non-life-threatening injuries.
The CHP continues to investigate the events that led to this incident.
