As published by the Daily Breeze, AgnewBrusavich has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against James Rahman, alleging he purposefully struck John Bacon with his car while Bacon was riding his bicycle in Palos Verdes Estates, killing Bacon. The hit-and-run crash involving a white Ford F-150 pickup truck, which detectives later identified as Rahman’s, was captured by a security camera, showing the truck tailing Bacon before he was found injured on the ground. Rahman fled the scene without calling for emergency services.

A male driver of a white pick-up truck reportedly had been terrorizing cyclists on the road. “The Bacon family is grateful for the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department’s efforts in its year-long investigation. Anyone who saw the collision or events leading up to it or experienced aggressive acts by a male driver of a white pick-up truck are urged to come forward,” said Gerry Agnew of AgnewBrusavich.

On May 18, 2016 at approximately 9:30 am, Bacon, an experienced cyclist, was riding his bicycle on Granvia Altamira in Palos Verdes when Rahman drove his Ford F-150 pickup truck toward him. Rahman accelerated and veered towards Bacon, hitting him with his side view mirror and knocking Bacon to the ground. Rahman fled the scene. Neighbors and bystanders came to Bacon’s aid and waited for first responders. Bacon was taken to a trauma center, still breathing and bleeding from his head and ears. Sadly, Bacon later died from his injuries.

Rahman, knowing Bacon was injured, stopped nearby bicyclists and told them a bicyclist had fallen, and they should call for help. Rahman fled the scene and did not identify himself; however footage of the incident was captured on nearby surveillance cameras. Palos Verdes Estates detectives released a statement and a photo of the vehicle, urging individuals to come forward with more information. Police then received a tip from a local citizen identifying Rahman as the driver of the truck.
